Greeley, CO, November 30, 2020 – On behalf of the team at Connections for Independent Living, which serves Weld, Phillips, Sedgwick, Yuma, Logan, Washington and Morgan counties, we are heartbroken to report that one of our own passed today as a result of complications due to COVID-19. While we cannot disclose the name of the deceased, nor provide personal information due to HIPPA rules, what we can report is that this team member was beloved. As a community, we are struggling with this devastating loss.
First and foremost, our hearts are with the team member’s family, and we have been in touch to offer our condolences and support in this difficult time.
Connections for Independent Living Greeley facilities and face-to-face interactions has been closed for normal business operations since March 9, 2020. Our team member became ill prior to the Thanksgiving holiday and was admitted to the hospital for care during the weekend. We do not believe our team member contracted the Coronavirus through work contact, but nevertheless, we have taken extraordinary precautions with our staff. All are working from home, and only limited team members are authorized to enter our facilities on an occasional basis. Following each visit, a thorough cleaning is undertaken. We will continue to take these precautions and continue to work on long-term changes to how we provide services in the future.
We pledge to remain in contact with our consumers, friends, and partners as we together struggle through a pandemic like none we have seen in our lifetime. For more than 30 years, Connections for Independent Living has cared for and advocated for those in our community who live with disabilities. Now, more than ever, we are continuing this mission. We wish for your safety and good health during these very difficult times.
