Fair Housing Forum

Larimer/Weld Area Fair Housing Forum 25 of October Interrupting Discrimination Larimer and Weld county residents, landlords, and property managers are invited to attend a Fair Housing Forum on October 25 to learn how to avoid housing discrimination and what to do if it happens.  The event, co-sponsored by Disabled Resource Services, Connections for Independent Living, Colorado Poverty Law Center, and the Denver Metro Fair Housing Center (DMFHC) , is free and open to the public. Wednesday October 25th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Pelican Lakes Resort & Golf Course, 1620 Pelican Lakes Point, Windsor, CO, 80550. Advance registration via Eventbrite is highly recommended . Consumers and housing providers may participate in-person or online via Zoom and can register for the in-person event at http://bit.ly/3ZdpI7z. Consumers will learn to assert their Fair Housing rights by:

  • Getting the facts about the newest laws protecting families, persons with disabilities, housing voucher holders, veterans, and LBGTQ community members.

  • Gaining the tools to file a complaint if you’ve experienced discrimination.

  • Connecting with legal experts to answer questions about individual situations.

Landlords and property managers will learn:

  • What does discrimination look like today?

  • How to avoid common mistakes in handling Fair Housing requests for reasonable accommodations and modifications.

  • Pro-active steps to take to assure Fair Housing legal compliance with the newest state landlord/tenant laws.

Presenters include:

  • John Paul Marosy, Outreach & Education Coordinator with Denver Metro Fair Housing Center

  • Kelly Wesolosky, Outreach Education and Community Advisor with the Colorado Civil Rights Division

  • An attorney with the Colorado Poverty Law Project
