SNAP Information Workshop
Connections is holding an informational workshop regarding Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program also known as SNAP, previously food stamps, on May 15, 2024.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps low-income households in Colorado purchase food. It provides a monthly benefit that helps families and individuals buy the food they need for good health.
The benefit is provided based on income, resources and the number of individuals in the household.
SNAP is part of a federal nutrition program to help low-income households purchase food. County human services departments are responsible for determining eligibility and authorizing SNAP.
SNAP is good for the local economy. Households participating in SNAP spend more on food. By providing more resources for food, SNAP helps free up cash for households with low-income to buy other essential items, like diapers and medication. As a result, retail sales increase, benefiting stores that sell both food and non-food items.
Attendees will learn about SNAP benefits, eligibility and how to apply. If you are a consumer and you’d like assistance filling out your application, you can schedule an appointment with your independent living specialist. If you are not a consumer but would like assistance, we’d love to give you a pre-intake for services.
If you’re interested, please email info@connections4il.org or call (970)352-8682 to register. If you’re unable to attend in-person but would like to attend via Zoom, please call to speak with someone regarding registration.
This two hour workshop will be hosted in-person at CBOCES- 821 W Platte Ave in Fort Morgan. No fee applies for Connections consumers.
