Give Where You Live this December with Connections

Weld County, CO, November 8, 2021 – Give where you live! For Connections for Independent Living, this December 7th has special meaning.

Once a year, the first Tuesday of December is promoted in Colorado as Colorado Gives Day. The day is designed to shine a light on local nonprofits and the need for local support. This coming year, Connections for Independent Living has a special project to assist people with disabilities in our community, which needs your most generous financial support.

Connections was fortunate to be a recipient of a Community Development Block Grant from Greeley. Block Grant funds will allow Connections to rebuild its front door, which is in desperate need of reconstruction and allow easier access for persons who use chairs or canes for mobility. The automated door opener will be updated to allow more time, and a sensor added to keep the door from closing unexpectedly. In addition, segments of the outside sidewalk will be replaced and a new safety railing added. The latter will be especially helpful when the walk is slick with snow and ice.

These grant funds will provide only a portion of the estimated costs for this project. Private donations, including Colorado Gives Day and end-of-year donations, are vital in order to cover the remainder of the construction expenses.

Connections is honored by all incoming financial support and gifts. The nonprofit’s secure online donation portal is open. Gifts can also be arranged by contacting the office at 970-352-8682.

Connections for Independent Living is a non-residential, participant-controlled nonprofit Independent Living Center that promotes independent living and the empowerment of all persons with disabilities. The organization is one of nine certified Independent Living Centers throughout Colorado and since 1986 has specifically served individuals in seven northeastern counties.
