SSI/SSDI Eligibility Guidance Offered by Connections

Weld County, CO, February 17, 2021 – For persons who live with a disabling condition, applying for Social Security’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) can be a confusing and complex process. To offer a helping hand, trained and knowledgeable benefit specialists from Connections for Independent Living are available by telephone or video conferencing to help determine whether the individual is eligible.

Connections provides this evaluation at no cost to persons with disabilities who live within the nonprofit’s seven county, northeastern Colorado service region. There is no additional obligation through participation in the evaluation program, and it is completely confidential.

Colorado counties served through the program include Weld, Morgan, Logan, Washington, Sedgwick, Yuma, and Phillips Counties.

The evaluation process can be completed by telephone consultation, or through a scheduled video conferencing session. Individuals who have an interest in participating in this program with Connections can call (970) 352-8682 weekdays during standard business hours to arrange their private consultation. Usually, evaluations can be completed within an hour.

Following determination of eligibility, the individual can then apply for coverage from Social Security. Connections can provide assistance in this process if requested.

Connections is an approved partner with the State of Colorado in this evaluation program, and has been providing support and guidance to northeastern Colorado residents with disabilities since 1986. The federal SSI/SSDI programs provide monthly financial benefits to qualifying persons who live with a disabling condition. There are specific requirements to be eligible for participation.

Connections for Independent Living is a non-residential, participant-controlled nonprofit Independent Living Center that promotes independent living and the empowerment of all persons with disabilities. The organization is one of nine certified Independent Living Centers throughout Colorado.
